Connecting Fuel Transactions Through the GIR API

John Duffy Energy Services has been a GIR partner since 2014, using the GIR Fuel Management System at its main fueling location, two nearby satellite locations, and additional GIR systems in the field for customers.

That long-term experience gives the team a practical understanding of GIR from both sides: using it in their own operation and supporting customers who rely on it every day.

At the center of this workflow is the GIR API, which allows fuel transaction data to move directly from the GIR software into John Duffy Energy Services’ billing software. Instead of entering the same information in more than one system, transaction details can flow from fueling to billing automatically.

When a customer fuels, GIR captures details such as the vehicle, gallons dispensed, user, and optional mileage. Through the GIR API, that information becomes part of the billing process, helping reduce duplicate entry and lower the risk of errors.

For fuel distributors, that connection can make a meaningful difference. Fuel activity is not just recorded at the pump; it becomes usable business data that can support customer invoices and reports.
